Machine Gun Kelly based the plot of his new film “Good Mourning” on a difficult time in his relationship with Megan Fox.

The film marks the musician’s directorial debut, and his co-writer and co-director Mod Sun has revealed that the inspiration for the film came from text messages between MGK and Megan, which left the star worried that she was about to dump him.

During a chat with Us Weekly, Mod explained, “It’s inspired by true events. When Kells (MGK) started his relationship with Megan, she left the country to work on a movie.

“She had terrible (cell) reception where she was, but texted whenever she could.”

Mod then revealed that MGK was worried about the news and had sought out all of his friends to ask their opinion on whether she was about to end the romance.

He added: “He had misunderstood these cryptic texts, assumed the worst and asked (me) and our friends if we thought she was going to break up with him. We started scripting it to distract him from the relationship.”

Set over the course of one day in Los Angeles, the film is about a fictional actor named London Clash who is offered the role of a lifetime in a new Batman film.

However, his good news is marred by a text message from his girlfriend suggesting that they are on the verge of breaking up.

Of the plot, Mod added: “It’s about human nature, that we imagine the worst case scenarios in our heads because we don’t have all the information.”

“Good Mourning” stars Pete Davidson and Dove Cameron as well as MGK and Megan themselves.

MGK and Megan began dating in 2020 and announced their engagement in January 2022.
