In the episode of Sunday, August 18, the Game worth millions of dollars Podcast, MGK (real name Colson Baker) recalled the moment that changed everything.

“It started with my daughter saying, ‘Daddy, do you know I can tell when you’re high?’ It broke my heart,” said the “Emo Girl” singer. Casie was just 11 or 12 years old at the time. “It was the ultimate disappointment.”

“It took a while after that because drugs obviously have a strong hold on you,” he continued. “That was the first step for me. As a father and as a man, I have to break this generational curse for my child to be the father that my father would have been.”

Earlier this month, Baker spoke about his milestone of one year of abstinence at Bunnie XO’s Stupid blonde Podcasts.

“I’m completely sober. I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t had a drink since last August,” he said. MGK quietly checked into rehab after completing his 2023 European tour and battled alcohol, marijuana and pills.

“They’ve shown me so many ways to deal with the body, to show me where that anger comes from, and ways to suppress it,” he explained. He also thanked his fiancée Megan Fox for helping him recover, saying, “Megan has definitely been a huge help in dealing with the mental withdrawal symptoms that come with (abstinence).”

Reflecting on his father’s problems, MGK revealed on the Stupid blonde Podcast how much his family’s past has shaped him: “My father suffered the worst shit a child can experience and I can’t imagine him having to go through that.”

Machine Gun Kelly’s determination to break the cycle of addiction and trauma in his family is evident: “As a father and as a man, I have to break this generational curse for my child to be the father that my father would have been.”

In July, the proud dad celebrated Casie’s 15th birthday with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, sharing moments from their life together. “The world keeps spinning but when I look at you it stops. Happy 15th princess,” he wrote under a series of sweet photos.
