Although the franchise ended in 2011, Harry Potter Movies are still an important part of pop culture, with many fans rewatching these projects every year (streaming with a Max subscription), including some of the Harry Potter Actors themselves. Case in point: Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch comically forgot she was in the franchise while watching The Prisoner of Azkabanand was even quoted as saying, “I want to be a part of that world.” Thankfully, she is.
Evanna Lynch made her debut as Luna in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and would reprise this role for the rest of the franchise in theaters. She and the cast returned for the Return to Hogwarts especially, and it’s clear that Lynch is still a huge fan of the franchise. During a recent interview with CNET, she admitted that when rewatching the third film, she somehow forgot that she was in the universeThe Prisoner of Azkaban. As she put it:
Comments like these prove that Lynch was always the perfect actress to play Luna Lovegood. She’s a huge fan of the wizarding world and forgetting that she was a supporting character in the franchise feels like something Luna would do.
Luna only appeared in the fifth film/book of the Harry Potter franchise, but she definitely made an impression. Not only was she a somewhat absent-minded Ravenclaw, but she also became a member of Dumbledore’s Army and fought Death Eaters at a relatively young age.
Later in the same interview, the 33-year-old actress spoke about her continued love for the wizarding world, aside from her time as Luna. In her words:
In the years since then Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 hit theaters, Lynch was never really far from the fantasy series. That was true even when Evanna Lynch defended JK Rowling amid the controversy surrounding the author when some fans decided to boycott the franchise they once adored.
Some fans wonder if Lynch and the rest of the Harry Potter The cast could later reunite for a film, The Cursed Child Luna is not seen in the stage version, but that might change for the film version. Only time will tell.
The Harry Potter Franchise is now streaming on Max, which also hosts the development platform for potter TV series. Check out the movie release dates for 2025 now.
