Ludacris hosts epic barbecue after Usher’s show is canceled

Ludacris came to the aid of disappointed Usher fans by hosting what he called the “hottest barbecue of the summer” after Usher’s Atlanta concert was unexpectedly canceled. Usher had to postpone the kickoff of his Past Present & Future Tour on Wednesday, August 14, due to health concerns. Although he initially kept the reasons vague, he later revealed that he had sustained a neck injury that forced him to postpone that show and two others in Atlanta until December.

To soften the blow, Ludacris organized a special event on the other side of Atlanta. Held in partnership with Atlanta’s Black Restaurant Week and Stella Artois, this barbecue was an invitation-only event, but lucky fans had the chance to attend thanks to Stella Artois’ Let’s do Dinner Summer Series sweepstakes.

Ludacris has always been a force to be reckoned with in difficult situations. When a show in Milwaukee was canceled earlier this summer on June 22 due to severe weather, Ludacris did not disappoint his fans. He performed an impromptu free concert at 3rd St. Market Hall, bringing a microphone and his energy to the streets. He shared on Instagram, “My show in Milwaukee was canceled last night due to rain and thunderstorms, but I DEFINITELY did not want to leave town without touching people,” and thanked Steve Dastoner for inspiring the impromptu performance.

Another highlight of his career was when Ludacris recently received his first Webby Award for his outstanding performance at the Atlanta Falcons’ Hip Hop 50 celebration last year. He expressed his joy on Instagram, saying, “I just found out I’ve received a Webby Award – the internet’s highest honor. … Thank you to the Falcons. And thank you to everyone involved. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a thrill seeker, knows I’m an adrenaline junkie.”
