The TV star from Glasgow took to social media to share her condolences with a friend after she shared some sad news. Crime writer Hilary Bonner lost her beloved dog Coco on April 9, and Lorraine sent her her best wishes following the news.

Lorraine, who was absent from hosting her show during half-time, replied: “I am so sorry for her loss – she was beautiful,” accompanied by a broken heart emoji.

Touched by Lorraine’s News Hilary replied: “Oh thank you Lorraine. She was beautiful. And we miss her so much already.” Messages poured in from Lorraine’s followers, including Melanie Blake, who said: “So sorry to hear that, sending lots of love to you both xx.”

Actor Tony Maudsley also added: “Oh noooo. I’m so sorry to hear that Hilary and Amanda. Sending you both lots of love xxxx.”

According to the Daily Record, some viewers are confused as to what Lorraine has been doing since she stopped hosting the show, with some suggesting she has “disappeared” in the last few days of this week.

However, the TV presenter enjoys her scheduled break, which she often takes during school holidays. Her co-stars Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh are usually chosen to step in during her absence.

However, some viewers were confused about how much time off she had this year, pointing out on social media that she only hosted 48 of the 72 episodes this year.

One viewer tweeted: “With this number of viewers surely it’s time to rename the show.” Another added: “#lorraine I wonder what Christine thinks when they show the credits at the beginning of the show with Lorraine beaming at the camera.”

Last week, Lorraine’s daughter Rosie announced she was pregnant with her first child in a sweet Instagram post with a photo of her bump and a 12-week ultrasound. Lorraine could hardly contain her joy, posting on her own Instagram: “THE most exciting thing that has ever happened to our family! I can’t wait to be a grandma and am so proud of Rosie and her Steve. This is the best news ever!”
