Lorraine Kelly becomes a grandmother, daughter Rosie announces pregnancy

Lorraine Kelly has said she can’t wait to become a grandmother after her daughter Rosie Smith announced her pregnancy.

Smith, 29, is the only daughter of the Scottish television presenter and her husband Steve Smith.

She announced the news on Instagram with a picture showing her with her baby bump.

Another framed ultrasound image showed Smith was at least 12 weeks pregnant. The caption read: “The bean at 12 weeks – the size of a fig.”

Alongside the post, Smith, a podcaster, wrote: “We couldn’t be more excited – you are already so loved, little one.”

ITV presenter Kelly shared the post on her own Instagram account, writing: “The most exciting thing that has ever happened to our family!

“I can’t wait to be a grandma and I’m so proud of Rosie and her Steve.

“This is the best news ever!”

Smith’s partner Steve White posted a photo of their dog wearing a bandana with the words “only child” crossed out and replaced with “big sister.”

He joked that their miniature wire-haired dachshund Ruby “might have some competition later this year.”

Well-wishers included Kelly’s ITV colleagues, including Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, who commented: “Oh my goodness, what incredible news! So special.”

Lorraine’s entertainment presenter Ria Hebden wrote “Congratulations Lorraine you are blessed and are going to be such a fabulous grandma xx”, while RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage said “I’M HAPPY FOR YOU ALL”.

The mother-daughter duo co-host a podcast called “What If?” in which they discuss life’s crucial turning points with celebrity guests.

Kelly has hosted her eponymous talk show Lorraine on ITV since 2010.
