A Betoota Heights couple found themselves in a standoff this week after an argument that was originally intended as a joke escalated into a full-blown shouting match.

Imogen and Mick Hynes, both older millennials, were said to have been discussing baby names before the argument. Mick jokingly floated the idea of perhaps naming their daughter after his favorite fictional character, “Arwen” from “The Lord of the Rings.”

However, this was quickly dismissed by Imogen, who admitted that she had considered naming her after HER favorite literary character, Ginny.

The book version of Ginny, of course.

“Well, she’s going to be a Potterhead, so it makes more sense to call her Ginny,” Imogen had guessed, not knowing that she had just seriously insulted her husband, “Ginny is a much better role model.”

“And Harry Potter is much better anyway.”

Since raising his daughter in both franchises was clearly not an option for Mick, he went all out.

“Are you serious? Harry Potter sucks.”

“At least JRR Tolkein isn’t an angry transphobe.”

“He was born in the 1930s, so he probably was!” Imogen replied. “There was no Twitter then, was there?”

“Anyway, Lord of the Rings is BORING.”

“All they do is walk around on a mountain, THAT’S WHAT IT IS!”
