If you’ve always wanted to adopt a pet, now may be the perfect time.

The Potter League for Animals in Middletown is participating in the national pet event Clear the Shelters. This Saturday, adoption fees for dogs, cats and small mammals are half the usual amount to help find them new homes.

Clear The Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign spearheaded by NBCUniversal Local that has successfully helped over one million pets find new homes since its launch in 2015, according to a press release. This is the 10th year of the initiative, which is run in partnership with Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Greater Good Charities and The Dodo.

In 2023, the campaign helped over 150,000 animals find homes and raised over $575,000, according to organizers.

Where does it happen?

The event will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Potter League Animal Care & Adoption Center, 87 Oliphant Ln., Middletown.
