It is decision day in Florida’s capital.

On Election Day, voters in Tallahassee and Leon County will vote today in bitterly contested races that may determine control of City Hall. Hotly contested races for school board, property appraiser and a county judge seat will round out the ballot, along with a handful of state-level elections where only party loyalists can vote.

As of early Monday evening, approximately 36,229 of Leon County’s 189,950 registered voters had cast their ballots by mail or early, bringing the pre-Election Day turnout to 19.07%. In 2022, overall voter turnout in Leon County was just over 33%.

Here is the latest information on the elections.

Another primary season in Tallahassee, marked by unofficial candidate slates, a barrage of often negative political ads, and partisan maneuvering and finger-pointing, comes to an end today.

The results are expected to be released shortly after polls close at 7 p.m. The first numbers will come from early voting and mail-in voting. Will another election cycle with devastating effects depress voter turnout? Will there be runoffs in local elections?

Here are three things we’ll be watching.

The polling stations open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m.

Registered voters can find their polling place on their voter information card, on the LeonVotes.gov website, or by calling the elections office at 850-606-VOTE (8683).

Voters must present a current address and a valid photo ID when voting in person. The ID must be from the following list: Florida driver’s license, Florida identification card, U.S. passport, debit or credit card, military ID, student ID, retirement home ID, neighborhood association ID, welfare ID, U.S. veterans’ health ID, concealed carry permit/firearm, local, state or federal government employee ID. Voters who do not bring ID can still vote using a provisional ballot.
