Sunday was elimination day for the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series.
All four games on the schedule were win-or-lose games, two of them in the U.S. championship and two in the international championship, and it all came down to the MLB Little League Classic at historic Bowman Field in Williamsport between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers.
The MLB game, now an annual event, helps Little League players connect with the highest level of the sport, but initially there was plenty of pressure in their own games.
Here’s a look at the schedule and results for Sunday.
Schedule and results for Sunday
- New York beats Illinois 4-0
- Mexico – Canada, 11 a.m. ET

- Australia – Aruba, 2:00 p.m. ET
New York beats Illinois 4-0
Sunday belonged to Vin Ruggiero and Dean Scarangello for New York in a 4-0 win over Illinois.
Ruggiero pitched five shoutout innings, aided by an impressive defense behind him. He didn’t need much run support, but New York delivered plenty of it with a four-run fourth inning.
Scarangello’s two-RBI single to the opposite field was the highlight of the rally, in which Chace Curro and Alex Torres also scored runs.
Scarangello wasn’t done yet, though, as he took the mound in the sixth inning and secured the shutout to keep New York’s Little League Baseball World Series hopes alive.
