After Wednesday’s games, we know two teams that will fight for the championship of their group.

Chinese Taipei of the Asia-Pacific region qualified for the international championship match by beating Japan. The most dominant team in this tournament faced a tougher challenge, exhausting its star player Lai Cheng-Xi, who had thrown 65 pitches by the start of the third inning.

Ciou Zhi-Kai kept the lead, fending off base runners on first and second base and ending the inning.

The team took a three-run lead with a double from Hu Yen-Chun. Japan responded with its first run of the game, but could not mount a comeback and Chinese Taipei booked its ticket to the title game.

In the United States group, Texas survived a rough start to its game against Nevada, scoring one run to bring the score to 2-1. The Mountain Region representative tied the game at 2-2 and it seemed like the game would be closer than expected.

A throwing error by their opponents in the north gave Texas a 3-2 lead that they never relinquished. Texas scored three more runs and secured the 5-2 victory that secured their place in the US final.

Who these two teams will face in these exciting duels will be revealed on Thursday.

Nevada will face Florida, fresh off a win that eliminated Hawaii from the tournament, while Japan will face the team from the Latin America region.

Both games could potentially be rematches of Wednesday’s games, with the winner receiving a far grander prize: a date at the Little League World Series Championship.
