CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns third quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start Saturday’s second preseason game against the Vikings, with Tyler Huntley closing the game.
For Thompson-Robinson, who played well against the Packers last week, this is an opportunity to secure the job as third quarterback, assuming the Browns decide to keep three.
With the Browns holding joint practices against the Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday, most of the starters will rest today while the reserve players test their chances of making the 53-man roster on August 27, cut-down day.
Thompson-Robinson gave the Browns a new lease of life in four series in the final period against the Packers last week, completing 14 of 18 passes for 134 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions for a rating of 97.7.
Thompson-Robinson led the Browns to end the game with two consecutive 13-play runs, including a 66-yard touchdown drive that ended with a 1-yard run by Aidan Robbins that brought the Browns within 23-10 and established the final margin.
