Lincoln County residents discuss the Brady Island Wind Project with RWE employees

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska (KNOP) – A multinational energy company hosted a wind energy information session in Lincoln County on Tuesday.

RWE generates and trades electricity in Europe and the United States. On Tuesday evening, about a dozen RWE representatives were at the Brady Community Center to provide information about wind farms and answer questions, including about the construction and benefits of wind farms.

RWE has sent postcards to Brady residents to announce a potential wind energy project called “Brady Island.” If realized, RWE says it has the potential to supply more than 50,000 homes with self-generated energy.

Still, some Greater Nebraska residents have voiced concerns, including Todd Roe, who served on the Brady Township Council for 15 years and served as chairman for the past three years.

The multinational energy company RWE held an information event in the village of Brady to talk about its potential wind energy project “Brady Island”.

“I guess there was some concern at first,” Roe said. “I know the whole thing is making waves in north-central Nebraska. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of it, I’m trying to gather as much information as I can to understand it. Of course, renewable energy is a big deal. We live in an age where electricity is the most important thing. The opportunities to use hydropower are limited, nuclear is extremely expensive. I understand that other ways can be found, I just want to know more about it.”
