Lil Durk reaffirms his Muslim faith and condemns gang life

Lil Durk is steadfast in his Muslim faith and renounces his old life as proof. On Sunday (August 18), the rapper from Chicago posted a new post on Instagram about his life and his mental state. “Don’t label me anything other than MAN, FATHER and 1000% Muslim – THE VOICE,” reads the caption of the post. He then clarified his statement and went into more detail about his religious path and its conflict with gang life in his IG story.

“I don’t gangbang, I’m a Muslim,” the Grammy-winning artist wrote. “Basically, I said so clearly in my post that you can’t do both, I’ll be the one to say it.”

“So if you’re following me as a brother, friend, or icon, follow me into my new chapter in life,” he added. “Me making music | rapping what I’ve seen and experienced and not telling you to do it makes a HUGE difference. The music won’t change, but my life goals will.” Durkio has been on a journey to better himself and his community for a minute.

In 2022, the rapper vowed to curb violence in Chicago and was already brainstorming ideas on how to bring peace to his hometown, then reiterated his sentiments about starting a new chapter in his life and career.

“I will start by bringing the city together,” he said Rolling Stone at the time. “To do my part to help curb the violence… Even if you do 99 percent of the shit right, you still have 1 percent of the demons on your side. It’s easy to get angry and one response can screw up a billion dollars. That’s why I don’t mention names anymore (in my music). I don’t talk about the dead anymore – none of that.”
