ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – The Life Share Center is pleased to announce a new blood drive.
According to Aubrey Chatham, regional director of the Life Share Blood Drive, the current campaign focuses on collecting O positive and O negative blood types. O blood types are the universal blood type donors.
As a thank you, donors will receive a $25 gift card for their donation. This offer is valid through August 31. Donors can donate at any Life Share Center location or at a mobile blood drive.
It is important to note that people with blood type O positive can only receive blood from donors of blood types O positive and O negative. Therefore, donation of these blood types is especially important to ensure that compatible blood is available to those in need.
“You never know when you’re going to need blood. One in three people will need a blood transfusion at some point. It could be for cancer, a blood transfusion or sickle cell anemia. These are the people in our community who can be helped,” Chatham said.
Chatham recommends eating a large meal and drinking plenty of water before donating blood.
