Life is beautiful, but Juve stays down to earth, says Motta

Juventus coach Thiago Motta described his life as beautiful on Sunday, but he is not getting carried away ahead of his team’s match against Hellas Verona.

Motta, who was brought in for Juventus after four seasons without a league title, started with a 3-0 win against Como and on Monday the Turin team travel to Verona, who started with a 3-0 win against Napoli.

“We remain grounded after the first day of the championship,” Reuters quoted Motta as telling reporters.

“Now we are on the second day and we face a team that is in good form after their victory against a team that is a serious candidate for the Scudetto.

“We played at home against Como, which was a good performance and a good result for us. Tomorrow I expect a different story and we have to be prepared for anything.”

Motta caught the attention of Juventus after leading Bologna to fifth place last season.

“From the outside, my life is beautiful, but from the inside it is beautiful. I get up early and go to training full of energy and enthusiasm,” said Motta.

“I’m with fantastic people who share the same enthusiasm. I’m with guys who come with a great desire to improve.”

It has taken Juventus a long time to sign the players Motta needs to challenge for the title, but Argentine winger Nico Gonzalez will undergo his medical on Sunday before joining from Fiorentina.

Another winger, Francisco Conceicao, is expected to arrive on loan from Porto.

“They are strong players and that is why they will join our squad. Every player that joins will help us to remain competitive until the end,” said Motta.

“This applies to those who are already here and to those who are yet to arrive.”
