Licensing Harry Potter, DC, Batman and other franchises to other studios is something that could be in the cards for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is currently exploring the possibility of licensing its franchises to other game developers, which could potentially increase its performance and revenue.

During a conference call on April 2, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav highlighted the potential benefits of licensing their intellectual property.

Zaslav shared:

He highlighted the use of Warner Bros. IPs for games by other developers.

Warner Bros. already experienced a sales boom with the first Harry Potter book, “Hogwarts Legacy”, which sold more than 22 million copies. This success story stands in sharp contrast to the first and widely known “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” (which ultimately flopped as a science fiction game).

As a result of this move, we could see a surge in the number of new games from other studios, just as Disney licenses its Star Wars and Marvel titles under its licensing agreement with Sony.
