Lewis-Potter scores in friendly match without spectators

Keane Lewis-Potter and Frank Onyeka both scored for Brentford in their 2-1 behind closed doors win over Wolfsburg on Saturday morning, while Jonas Wind scored a last-minute consolation goal for the German side.

After Friday night’s 4-4 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium, two different teams from Wolfsburg and Brentford met again at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre.

The Bees took an early lead when a cross from Ryan Trevitt found Lewis-Potter at the back post and he was able to direct his header over the Wolfsburg goalkeeper.

Myles Peart-Harris looked dangerous throughout and the 21-year-old almost found Lewis-Potter, who was again lurking at the far post, and allowed him to score his brace.

Ben Mee returned after his long injury break and prevented the equalizer with a great tackle against the wind.

Hákon Valdimarsson was rarely in trouble but had to be on his guard to prevent another attempt from Wind in the box, which was the away side’s best chance of the first half.

B team players Conor McManus and Iwan Morgan came on in the 65th minute to replace Mee and Lewis-Potter, who both put in a positive performance.

Peart-Harris was once again able to outplay his opponent well on a counterattack and played a great back pass to Morgan, but the striker could not find the right contact with the ball to direct his shot towards goal.

Brentford scored their second goal with 15 minutes left when Ji-soo passed to Kim Morgan, who struggled for Onyeka to slot the ball into the net.

Morgan should have scored himself shortly after the West Londoners’ second goal as he came unmarked towards goal, but the goalkeeper made himself big and prevented the youngster’s shot.

Wind, who had been a nuisance throughout the game, finally scored his goal, finishing well from close range.

This was only a consolation, however, as Brentford enjoyed a largely comfortable win at Jersey Road.
