Hello, game developers. It’s that time again: Game Developer is looking for submissions for Blogs written by developers on a specific industry trendand we want to hear from you. This time we’re diving into the wide world of photography and video games.
Over the next three weeks, from August 19 to September 6, 2024, we will be hosting a Open call for developer-written blogs on highlighting photography games and mechanicswhich will run from 16 to 24 September 2024.
Game Developer will be sharing in-depth insights, postmortems, interviews, developer blogs and essays about photography and the many ways it is used in games. Over the course of the week, we will explore:
How does photography improve open-world scenarios? Can we learn something about real-life photography from video game photography? How is our representation of photography limited or enhanced by the medium? What design features can help us create an authentic experience? Which games use photography mode best narratively? And much more.
If you’ve developed a photography game, created a cool take on Snapshots, written an analysis of another game’s camera mechanics, or simply feel inspired by the above, we want to hear from you!

Second, write your blog post in a Google Doc or Microsoft Word, upload all the images it contains to an associated shared folder, and send it via our Blog Submission Form. Be sure to include the term “photography blog” in your document.
