Lemonade Day – a sweet offer for children and thirsty guests in Langley

Lemonade Day – a sweet offer for children and thirsty guests in Langley

Children can sign up to run lemonade stands as part of a special entrepreneurship program on August 24

Young entrepreneurs need folding tables, jugs and glasses as quickly as possible if they want to take part in Lemonade Day 2024.

Lemonade Day is on August 24th this year. It is a free educational initiative designed to teach children entrepreneurial skills by running their own lemonade stand. This annual event teaches life skills such as creativity, financial literacy, responsibility, goal setting, teamwork and customer service in a fun way.

“This community event is about empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs by giving them the tools, knowledge and resources they need to turn their business idea into reality,” said Thomas Martini, owner of Vitrum Glass Group. “We are excited to offer this opportunity and witness the creativity and ambition of our youth. This event is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn, grow and contribute to our community.”

Vitrum Glass Group is once again bringing Lemonade Day to the community of Langley. The program is international, but each community is supported by a local business.

Every child who signs up gets access to the Lemonade Day curriculum, which teaches them lessons like creating a budget, setting goals, serving customers, paying back investors and giving back to the community. The kids keep all the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some and donate some to charitable causes.

Children who want to participate in Lemonade Day can register through the My Lemonade Day app or online at https://lemonadeday.org/langley-bc. This website also allows mentors to register to help the children.

Lemonade Day provides a step-by-step guide to help kids plan and run their lemonade stands. After completing Lemonade Day, they can submit their business results and story to enter the Lemonade Day Entrepreneur of the Year competition. The winner in Langley will then compete for the National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Each child is paired with a mentor, often a parent, teacher or community leader, who provides guidance and support throughout the process. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to get involved by sponsoring booths, offering materials or providing locations for the lemonade stands. Anyone who would like to help the children can sign up through the website. There is also a Lemonade Day Langley Facebook page with information.

On Lemonade Day, the public can visit the website to find out the locations of the various stands, where other treats are often also available.
