last day of rare August air; the revenge of summer returns

THURSDAY: With humidity still low, temperatures will quickly rise to 10 to 15 degrees in the morning and skies will be mostly sunny. Highs will be between 27 and 30 degrees. During the afternoon, winds should come from the east/southeast, causing humidity to rise quickly. Expect some passing clouds as lows only fall to 18 to 20 degrees.

FRIDAY: Summer returns to the Mid-South, rounding out the work week. A weak boundary will move westward throughout the day, stirring up a cloud of moisture — bringing with it a few more clouds and a rise in highs — toward “normal” in the lower 90s. Lows will drop to the upper 60s and lower 70s, with mostly clear skies.

EXTENDED TIME: Our heat ridge begins its move through the Mid-South this weekend. Highs will rise quickly. After the nice respite, highs in the mid-90s return this weekend. This sets up for the next big event that will give you a FIRST WARNING For the next week, highs of between 35 and 40 degrees are expected, although the probability of rain in the next few days is low.
