WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. – Lake Mary defeated Henderson, Nevada, 6-3 in Game 6 of the Little League World Series on Thursday – meaning the team is now on its way to the U.S. championship.
The Lake Mary All-Stars started the first inning strong, scoring four runs. However, Nevada recovered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
After a scoreless second inning, Lake Mary scored again in the third inning thanks to a solo home run by JJ Feliciano, bringing the score to 5-3.
Garrett Rohozen tied the game with another solo home run in the sixth inning, making the score 6-3. This gives the team a total of five home runs in the entire World Series, more than any other team this August.

Last week, Lake Mary got off to a strong start, winning its first two games against Sioux Falls and Puyallup. However, on Monday night, the team was defeated by Texas – Lake Mary’s first loss of the season.
The tournament is a double-elimination system, meaning teams can only lose twice before they’re out of contention. But after beating New York on Tuesday and defeating Hawaii on Wednesday, the Lake Mary All-Stars were still fired up.
After the victory against Nevada, Lake Mary will take part in the US Championship at 3:30 p.m. and will make a second attempt in Texas.
This makes Lake Mary the third team from Central Florida to ever reach the U.S. championship game in the 77-year history of the World Series.
