Kevin Durant is expected to start for the US team in the gold medal game against France

It looks like Steve Kerr will be making some adjustments to his rotation ahead of Saturday’s gold medal clash against France. The U.S. team is back in the men’s basketball finals for the 2024 Olympics, hoping to win its fifth consecutive gold medal at the Games.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the starting lineup for Saturday’s game will feature none other than Kevin Durant, the all-time leading U.S. scorer at the Olympics. Durant has not started at this year’s Paris Games, but his contributions from the bench have been crucial.

There has been some criticism of Durant’s lack of use in Kerr’s rotations, including some eye-opening remarks from Draymond Green on social media, and now he seems ready to join LeBron James and Co. in the starting lineup.

According to Charania, Jrue Holiday will be on the bench for the Americans. The Boston Celtics point guard was often in the starting lineup on the way to the gold medal game and provided good defense on the perimeter.

Team USA had a tight task in the semifinals, needing a 36-point game from Stephen Curry and a late comeback to defeat Nikola Jokic’s Serbia. Coming off the bench, Durant contributed nine points, three rebounds and an assist in 24 minutes. It was clear the team needed to make some adjustments, and now Durant will step into the starting lineup to provide some fresh momentum.
