Kelly Rowland is speaking out after a heated exchange with security on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday that went viral on the internet.
After recordings of the Destiny’s Child alumnus sternly interacting with a security guard on the Marcello Mio The incident caused a stir on the Internet, she said in an interview with Associated Press at the amfAR gala in Cannes on Thursday, May 23, in France.

“The woman knows what happened. I know what happened,” Rowland, 43, told the outlet. “I have boundaries, and I stand by those boundaries, and that’s all.”
“And there were other women on the carpet who didn’t look quite like me, and they weren’t insulted or pushed down or told to get off,” she added. “I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to make her point, but I stood my ground.”
PEOPLE has contacted the Cannes Film Festival for comment.
The incident occurred on the steps of the Palais des Festivals, where Rowland and the security guard got into an argument. Several people accompanying the “Dilemma” singer appeared to intervene, but the security guard let them continue walking down the carpet.
