Kelly Rowland was seen in a seemingly tense moment with security on the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Posing for photographers and waving to fans at the premiere of the French-Italian film Marcello Mio On Tuesday, May 21, Rowland, 43, was escorted by security guards up the famous red carpet steps, according to footage shared via X.
In the video, a member of security can be seen helping Rowland up the stairs, placing a hand on her back and giving her instructions as Rowland begins to climb.
However, the exchange takes a heated turn when the singer appears to insult the employee and points her finger at his face.

Rowland almost makes it to the top of the stairs before she turns to the staff member to share her final thoughts. Several red carpet officials then appear to approach the security guard in an attempt to diffuse the situation.
Social media users attempted to lip-read Rowland’s dialogue in the clip, with some believing the “Motivation” singer told the security guard, “Don’t talk to me like that.”
Although the singer has yet to comment on the tense moment, a few hours later she shared a photo of herself on the red carpet via Instagram Stories and captioned it, “Fun in Cannes.”
The embarrassing incident occurred after the former Destiny’s Child Star made headlines earlier this year for allegedly leaving the set of Today show.
After an interview with Savannah Guthrie On February 15, Rowland was scheduled to step in for Jenna Bush Hager as co-host during the fourth hour of the show.
Instead, Rita Ora took over the role alongside Hoda Kotb.
At a performance with Chicago’s WGN News On February 22, Rowland was asked if she would like to explain why she decided not to fulfill her duties as co-host. “No, because I’m so excited and pleased to be here to talk about the film and nothing else,” she replied.

Several media outlets reported that Rowland’s departure from Today was due to her disappointment with her dressing room. Guthrie, 52, later apparently admitted that Rowland’s concerns were valid.
“We need a transformation. We need Extreme Makeover: Dressing Room Edition of the Today Show”, joked Guthrie Entertainment tonight in an interview on February 21. “We’re in a historic studio, 1A. It’s the same studio that’s been used for decades. It’s incredible and iconic, but it’s old.”
