“So I, Kelly Ripa, jump in the water and say, ‘I know how to talk to dolphins!'” she said on the Tuesday, August 27 episode of ‘Live! with Kelly and Mark.’

Kelly Ripa once tried to bridge the gap between humans and dolphins!

On Tuesday, August 27, Live!The host revealed that she once believed she could talk to dolphins during a trip to Mexico for a friend’s birthday party. While discussing recent technological developments in animal communication with her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, Ripa recounted the moment she channeled her inner Dr. Dolittle.

“They rented a boat for sunset cocktails. Suddenly we were in the water surrounded by wild dolphins,” she recalled, adding that she “had just done the show in Miami and we went to the Seaquarium and I swam with the dolphins.”

“We recorded a piece where we communicate with the dolphins. So I, Kelly Ripa, jumped in the water and said, ‘I know how to talk to the dolphins!’ And then I said, ‘I’m going to summon them!'” she joked.

“Our friend Brian was standing at the bow of the boat and said, ‘Kel, get back in the boat. These are wild dolphins, not trained dolphins,'” she continued. “But in my head I thought I could talk to the dolphins because I had been speaking to them so fluently.”

Ripa’s admission into the underwater world came shortly after she was named a Disney Legend on August 11 at the D23 Fan Convention in Anaheim, California.

During a conversation with Disney CEO Bob Iger about their Let’s talk off camera On the podcast, the longtime talk show host admitted she was shocked to learn she had been awarded the title. The Disney Legend is an honor given to individuals who have made a significant impact on the company.

“Once again, it was one of those moments where I thought Deborah O’Connell was playing an April Fool’s joke on me,” Ripa admitted, before asking, “Why me? You needed a real person there to bring some kind of stabilization. There’s a lot of greatness, but then they say, ‘Okay. How do we honor normal people? Kelly?'”

Iger noted that “Disney Legends is basically the equivalent of the Disney Hall of Fame,” and assured Ripa that her award was well-deserved. He explained that her achievements on television, such as her time on All my children and hosting Live! “have contributed significantly not only to our success, but also to what we represent in the world.”

“Ultimately, I agree with that list,” he continued. “And actually, I thought, well, why didn’t we get to that sooner? You’ve actually been worthy for some time. And I think it speaks volumes not only about you, but about the show that you’ve been on for so long now and that we appreciate.”

“It’s not just about sitting in a chair and saying ‘good morning’ every morning,” he added, explaining that the award is given for “who you are and what you represent.”
