Kelly Ripa once dived into the ocean because she thought she could communicate with dolphins.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” the talk show host recalled her friend’s trip to Mexico for her 50th birthday, where they encountered dolphins.

“Many years ago, we were in Mexico for a friend’s 50th birthday, OK, and they rented a boat for sunset cocktails,” she began. “And suddenly we were in the water surrounded by wild dolphins.”

The 53-year-old former actress later explained that she was returning from filming an episode of the talk show in Miami, where she swam with dolphins and “communicated” with them.

“So I, Kelly Ripa, jump in the water and say, ‘I know how to talk to dolphins!’ I say, ‘I’m going to call them over!'” she says, making the high-pitched clicking noises she uses to attract the dolphins.

However, one of her friends reminded her that they had encountered “wild dolphins” and “not trained dolphins.”

“But in my head I thought I could talk to the dolphins because I was so fluent for her,” she said, laughing.

Ripa’s co-host and husband of 28 years, Mark Conseulos, then jokingly told her, “Yeah. You have to be able to do it in Spanish, then it’s OK.”

The longtime talk show host told her story after Consuelos, 53, read a report that said artificial intelligences were working to enable humans and animals to communicate with each other.

The “Riverdale” actor was excited about the story because he wanted to know what his beloved rescue dog Lena would say.

“I know what she’s saying! ‘Get away from me, you nutcase!'” Ripa jokingly told her husband.

However, one of her friends reminded her that they might not be as trained as dolphins in an aquarium. instasuelos/Instagram

The stars of “All My Children” have never shied away from teasing each other on the Emmy-winning talk show.

Just recently, Ripa exposed her husband for turning her into his “personal ATM” because he “didn’t carry any cash.”

In recent episodes, the two have also spoken openly about their love life, revealed details about their three children and shown their affection for each other.

The couple eloped in Las Vegas in 1996 and have three children together: sons Michael, 27, Joaquin, 21, and daughter Lola, 23.
