Kelly Ripa of “Live” says Mark Consuelos once literally ripped her pants off while trying to help her escape fire ants: “You’re welcome, guys”

Mark Consuelos knew just how to help Kelly Ripa when things got complicated. nervous.

When the co-host couple explained why “it feels so good to lie on the floor” Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday, Consuelos raved about lying in the grass, which Ripa did not approve of. She mentioned “ticks, worms (and) snakes” as creatures that could happen to you, before she and Consuelos mentioned “ants” as another creature.

“I stood in an anthill on vacation and I will not do that again,” Ripa recalled.

The two clarified that they were “fire ants,” whereupon Consuelos asked Ripa if the ants had left “any traces.”

Ripa replied, “Yes, you were there. You know.”

She then told how Consuelos came to help.

“Mark actually ripped my pants off. Yes. You’re welcome, guys,” she joked. “Mark ripped my pants off.”

Consuelos explained that Ripa was “wearing sweatpants and (the ants) were crawling up,” and Ripa noted that she was “taking pictures of (her) dogs while on vacation.”

“Because that’s what you do when the kids grow up. You start taking pictures of your dogs,” she teased.

Consuelos noted that fire ants are “really, really fast.” He continued reading aloud: “Although there is no research touting the benefits of lying on the ground, psychologists say that spending time on the ground probably doesn’t hurt, and that it may even help us feel grounded.”

“I like it. I always feel like my neck – the back of my head is a little flat, so, you know, it kind of hurts to be on the ground,” he added.

Then Ripa felt the back of Consuelos’ head and found that it was indeed a little flat.

“You have to talk to my mother about that,” joked Consuelos.

After Ripa said “that’s weird,” Consuelos felt Ripa’s head and they both agreed that it was “very round.”

“You have a beautiful crown,” he said to Ripa, for which she thanked him.

“My pretty bumps. It’s all here,” she joked. “Nowhere else. The only thing I have is my bumpy head.”
