Kelly Ripa has a lot to thank Disney for – including meeting her “super hot” husband and Live with Kelly and Mark Co-host Mark Consuelos.
Ripa was honored as a Disney Legend on Sunday night (August 11) at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and graced the crowd with a heartfelt and hilarious speech in which she thanked the ceremony host and former Live co-host Ryan Seacrest – and teased that she was “just so glad (he) finally found something else to host,” per People.
Seacrest had praised Ripa on stage, telling her, “You truly are the definition of a legend.”
Ripa said the title “feels surreal” and thanked Disney CEO Bob Iger for “this truly magical experience.”
Ripa also told how she met Consuelos, whom she called her “super hot” husband, when she was in All my childrenwhich airs on ABC. She joked that they “made their own three children right backstage in the Disney labs,” per diversity.
“I’m kidding! We did them in our dressing rooms,” she joked. “I’m kidding again. I’m kidding again – HR asked me to remind everyone.”
Ripa was absent from Live last week, with Consuelos and several guest hosts filling in for her. Just this morning, Maria Menounos was seen at the co-host desk. A production source told DECIDER that the Live The family is currently on their annual summer vacation, but assured us that the upcoming shows will feature entertaining and fresh, never-before-seen content, as well as celebrity interviews.
Consuelos announced his wife’s new title in Friday’s episode of Livewhich he co-hosted with Jenny Mollen. After hinting that he would be wearing a “nice suit” to the awards show and that his hair would be “blowing outside,” he took a moment to rave about Ripa’s performance.
“Kelly, I’m so proud of you,” he said. “You’re a legend.”
