Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos try to stay out of their children’s dating lives.
In the episode of Thursday, June 6 Live with Kelly and MarkThe couple, who have children Michael (27), Lola (22) and Joaquin (21), have an open conversation about arranged marriages.
“Listen to this,” says 53-year-old Ripa to her husband and co-host. “The Indian dating agency The show has brought the issue to the forefront and shown people what arranged marriages are all about. The average divorce rate nationwide is about 50%. The divorce rate for arranged marriages is 4%. So the parents know what they are talking about.”
Consuelo, 53, asks: “Would we do that for our children?”

“I think we would choose the kids that our kids are with, we would choose those kids. If I could have personally chosen them… but I don’t want to say that,” Ripa replies.
She then explains that whether you like the person your child is with or not, it is difficult to guide your child in the right direction.
“You shouldn’t say too much because you know what it’s like. So you have to behave differently,” she says.
Consuelos agrees, saying, “If you have any comments, forward them to that person.”
The couple agrees that it’s best to “keep quiet” when it comes to who their children date.
“Yeah, if you don’t like someone your kid is with and you express that, then it sinks in. But if you like them too much, then it’s like, ‘Hmm… why does my mom like her?’ Then we don’t say anything,” Ripa says.

The happy couple recently celebrated Michael’s 27th birthday.
The couple posted a joint tribute to their eldest child on Instagram on June 2, which includes a look back at Michael through the years, set to the song “Move on Up” by Curtis Mayfield.
The reel includes photos and videos of Michael reaching important milestones as a baby, such as crawling and walking or playing trick-or-treating as a little boy, as well as footage from his past birthdays.
“Happy 27th birthday to the founding member of our family @Michael.Consuelos 🎉. You got the ball rolling baby and we love you!” Ripa captioned the post.
