Kelly Osbourne reacted to friend Sid WilsonMember of the heavy metal band Slipknotwas hospitalized for second-degree burns to his face and arms that he said he sustained in a campfire accident on their Iowa farm.
Osbourne, 39, posted a video on her Instagram story showing her and the couple’s 22-month-old son, Sidney, accompanying Wilson, 47, to the hospital.
“That’s why you shouldn’t bother with burn piles,” Osbourne noted. “He literally set himself on fire and made everything explode.”
Wilson shared his own update from a hospital bed. “Hi everyone, I had an explosion on my face,” Wilson said in a video posted to Instagram on Friday, August 23, with the caption, “Ouch.”
“I’m fine, I’m going to get better,” he said as medical staff tended to his injuries. “But I have serious burns on my face and arms.”
Osbourne captioned a second video slide with an emoji reading “I’m at a loss for words,” shaking her head at the camera as Sidney played with a pile of toys next to his father’s bed. Wilson can be seen tapping away on his phone with both arms heavily bandaged.
The musician added that he was “scorched all over – my eyebrows are singed, my mouth is blistered… both arms are pretty bad.”
However, he assured his fans that he will be back on stage in time for Slipknot’s next concert, which takes place in Pryor, Oklahoma on September 1. “I’m going to be OK, folks, and I don’t care what it takes, see you on tour… Take care of yourselves, folks, and I’ll take better care of myself. See you soon.”
Wilson said the accident occurred while he was lighting a fire pile while working on the farm.
In a statement on Friday evening, the band said that despite the frightening-looking injuries, they expect their DJ to be able to return to work soon.
“Our brother Sid Wilson had an accident today and suffered burns all over his body. He is currently recovering surrounded by his family and will still be on stage with us at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes and we’ll see him again soon,” they noted.
The heavy metal band started the North American part of their Here comes the pain The tour, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of her eponymous debut album, began earlier this month on August 6. It runs through September 21, ending in Des Moines, Iowa.
