It is the end of an era at General HospitalKelly Monaco will make her final appearance as Sam McCall this fall, Soap Opera Network reports. In addition, the character, who has been a mainstay on the show for over 20 years, will be killed off.

The actress made her General Hospital Debuting in 2003 after a three-year run on Spinoff Port Charles as Livvie Locke. Monaco, the website says, was completely taken aback by the decision to send Sam to the Port Charles Cemetery. When she joined the show, she was offered the opportunity to play the role of Babe Carey in All my children (which ultimately went to Alexa Havins). But as a die-hard General Hospital As a fan, Monaco could not resist the opportunity to become a cast member in this soap opera.

Over the years, the fan favorite has been paired with one leading man (Maurice Benard as Sonny) after another (Steve Burton as Jason) after another (Jason Thompson as Patrick). Sam is currently seriously involved with Dominic Zamprogna’s Dante. But as you may have heard, his ex-wife Lulu is said to be waking up at any moment to recast the role.

Sam’s death is sure to throw the whole picture out of balance. And ex-husband Jason has just risen from the dead for the second time.
