Kelly A. Friedman, 62, Dubois

Kelly A. Friedman, 62, of Dubois, passed away at 10:39 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by her family.

Kelly was born on November 12, 1961 in Jasper, Indiana, to John W. and Florence Celine (Matheis) Schott.

She married her husband of 32 years, Timothy E. Friedman, on August 13, 1983, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. He predeceased her on October 29, 2015.

She graduated from Northeast Dubois High School in 1980 and from Vincennes University in 1982. She served as deputy auditor for Dubois County for many years.

She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church – St. Isidore Parish in Dubois, Indiana where she was a religion teacher, served on the parish council, chaired the parish social basket, and received the Brute Award along with her husband for service to St. Raphael Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Dubois Ruritan.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, taking family vacations, and was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude’s cancer research. She was a huge fan of Jeep Athletics and the Indiana University Hoosiers.

She is survived by two daughters, Leslie (Craig) Denu of Huntingburg and Laine (Parker) Busick of Dubois; a son, Luke Friedman of Miami, Florida; five grandchildren, Hadley and Cooper Denu; Elsie, Nixon and Nolan Busick; her father, John W. Schott of Dubois; three sisters, Michelle (Robert) Rutemueller of Cincinnati, Ohio, Angie (Greg) Wineinger of Cuzco and Kate (Mike) Tuttle of Indianapolis; a brother, John E. (Felicia) Schott of Crystal; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her mother and her brother-in-law, Michael Campbell.

A mass of Christian funeral for Kelly A. Friedman will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

A wake will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
