KATY PERRY is back in top form after releasing her latest single “Lifetimes” yesterday.

And as she prepares to release her new dance-inspired album 143 next Month we can report that the Firework singer is planning something very special to boost her comeback.

Insiders have revealed that Katy is in advanced negotiations to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 10, which takes place ten days before 143 Drops.

For Katy, it is her first appearance at the ceremony since 2019. Over the course of her career, she has already won five of the coveted MTV Moonmen awards.

In addition, it is the first time that she has presented her new material since her return to the music scene earlier this summer.

A source said: “Katy is currently in intense talks about her big return to the VMAs stage.

“The details are still to be finalised but she is a huge star and bosses are determined to get the deal done.

“The last time Katy appeared on the show was in 2019, so it will be a big moment.

“She has already travelled around the world to promote her new single, but next The month will be even busier for them.

“Katy is one of the biggest pop superstars in the world and this new record and a performance at the VMAs would reinforce that.”

The awards ceremony is considered one of the wildest music ceremonies in showbiz circles and has created countless viral moments.

They ranged from Miley Cyrus’ infamous twerking routine in 2013 to Lady Gaga bleeding to death on stage “in the name of art” at the ceremony in 2009.

And who could forget the late rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, storming the stage the same year Taylor Swift accepted the award for Video of the Year.

Whatever, it probably happened at the VMAs.

This year’s awards ceremony will take place on September 10th at the UBS Arena, just outside of New York.

Taylor leads this year’s nominations with ten, closely followed by her former collaborator Post Malone with nine.

“Katy’s Year”

For us Brits, Dua Lipa represents the flag. She has been nominated three times.

It has already been announced that Katy will headline the major Brazilian festival Rock In Rio on September 20, the day her album is released.

When we met her last month, she told us she couldn’t think of a better place to release her record.

She will also be headlining the Toyota AFL Grand Final – Aussie Rules Football for us English – in Australia on September 28.

Just reading through Katy’s schedule makes me want to take a nap.

But I think it’s safe to say she looks, feels and sounds better than ever before.

This is Katy’s year – and it’s going to be awesome!
