Katherine Kelly feels “blessed” to be an actress

Katherine Kelly “loves” her job.

The 43-year-old star still finds acting exciting and Katherine stresses that she has “never lost that feeling of gratitude.”

The actress, who previously played Becky McDonald in ‘Coronation Street’, told Radio Times: “I have a calling and a job that I love. I would do it anyway, I just earn a living from it.”

“I’ve never lost that sense of gratitude and I think gratitude is probably one of the hardest things to hold on to. You’re lucky if you get to my age and still love your job because most of my friends don’t.”

Katherine can already look back on a varied career and the actress would like to face new challenges in the coming years.

She said, “When everyone is going one way, I want to go the other way. I don’t go with the flow.”

Katherine has her own production company and is now determined to give up-and-coming stars a chance.

She said: “I’m really keen to give people a chance or an opportunity to shine and there are a lot of jobs in this industry that people don’t realise exist. It’s not just actors or cameramen, there are all these amazing roles in between and I want to make sure people get a chance.”

The actress comes from a working-class background and Katherine emphasizes that she has “no sense of entitlement.”

The TV star explained: “My father left school at 15 without any qualifications and went to work in a coal mine. My whole family worked there. I have no sense of entitlement and I don’t expect things to be handed to you. You have to go out and do it yourself.”
