K. Michelle’s Instagram Live took a nostalgic turn, revealing behind-the-scenes details of their early music.

In a recent Instagram live stream, the R&B singer and reality TV star K. Michelle reflects on her song from 2010 I just can’twritten by R.Kelly.

If you remember the origins of the song, K. Michelle divided:

“You know, this is one of the first songs I released? R. Kelly wrote this record. I remember telling him when we were writing it, ‘I’m a star, Robert, and I just can’t do this anymore!'”

She continued:

“He wrote it on my face. I was crying and he said something like, ‘Know that I love you and I care about you’ (the lyrics).”

K. Michelle also mentioned her mixed feelings about the track:

“Now I like the song… but it’s difficult to sing.”

The author of the piece, R.Kellyis currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and organized crime following his September 2021 conviction in New York.

During the Instagram Live, the conversation shifted to K. Michelle’s third studio album, More topics than Vogue. She admitted that her experience creating the album was blurred due to her marijuana use at the time, explaining:

“You all like More topics than Vogue. That’s the song that everyone likes, and I couldn’t tell what was on the album… I was high. I literally had the marijuana pills.”

She added:

“It was very… oh my god, I’m tired of singing about being hurt.”

K. Michelle is now embarking on a new musical journey, having recently signed with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville to pursue country music. She expressed her excitement about this new chapter, saying:

“I was ready. I’m grateful for this moment…I’m excited and I want to thank my BMG team. I’m excited to finally be able to sing the music I grew up with. I’m a country girl at heart and I can’t wait to share my country music with you.”
