Last but not least, there is certainly the “Reverb” Phillips Backyard Music Festival!
This was the largest attendance the Phillips Backyard Music Festival has ever hosted and it will surely be an unforgettable experience.
Local scene newcomers Posh Coat were first up and started with an energetic rock’n’roll explosion.
Posh Coat have just released their debut EP and have already been featured as Band of the Month at The Zone at 91-3, and that’s despite only just starting out. Keep an eye on this band as they are sure to do big things in the near future.
Next up was Nicky MacKenzie, who is no stranger to the Phillips Backyard Music Festival, having performed on stage two years ago.
This time, MacKenzie brought some new songs, a full band and two background dancers, adding a nice new element to her live performance.
When the dancers – her best friends, she said – came out with her, the mood turned into a fun ’80s dance party, and that energy continued all day as people prepared for Jungle.

After Nicky MacKenzie took the stage, DJ Murge began his solo set to warm up the crowd before bringing some special guests on stage.
His first guest was Saundra Williams, a well-known soul/R&B singer from Hackensack, New Jersey.
Williams was formerly a member of the Dapettes and a backing singer for Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.
She accompanied Murge for most of his set and together they created a fun, upbeat and danceable vibe reminiscent of the club music of the late 90s or early 2000s.
After Murge, the duo Drama came on stage and delivered a very special performance that rounded off Jungle’s set perfectly.
This Chicago-based group consists of Na’el Shehade and singer/songwriter Via Rosa. They are best known for their unique blend of R&BDance, pop, hip-hop, jazz, bossa nova and electronic.
During her performance, Rosa served as the perfect inspiration for the audience to go crazy with her dancing as she waved, hopped and jumped across the stage.
Last of the evening, the one and only Jungle took the stage just as the sun was setting in a cloud of smoke.
Most people in the sold-out crowd had come for Jungle this weekend, and they did not disappoint with their percussive bops that resonated in everyone’s body and soul.
They came all the way from London, England and became one of the most renowned dance bands in the world.
After the first few songs, there was no peace in the entire backyard, and then the beach balls came out.
They played until it got dark and everyone was exhausted from dancing.
This year’s Phillips Backyard Music Festivals Tilt and Reverb were unforgettable and people are certainly looking forward to what to expect next year.
