Judging good and evil | The Highland County Press

Judging good and evil | The Highland County Press

I recently read a series of sentences that I would like to claim as my own: “If Donald Trump is so evil, hasn’t he already had four years to be evil? If the Democrats are so good – they have been in power for 12 of the last 16 years – haven’t they had time to do all the good they say they can do?”

I challenge you to list some evils that Donald Trump has done to the citizens of the United States. I am not talking about personal morality here. If you want to talk about that, I can mention Bill Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (and her husband).

The second part of the challenge is: Tell me what the Democrats (Obama, Biden, Harris) have done to improve your life since 2009, when Obama was sworn in?

When my mother-in-law was alive, she judged doctors by how nice they were to her.

Nice? That can be an advantage, but I want to find the BEST doctor for whatever is bothering me.

The same goes for politicians, especially presidents. I want the best for the CITIZENS of the United States.

There are many things wrong in this country, and over the course of my adult life, many things have changed for the worse.

A good example of this is the public education system, especially in the big cities. There, it seems as if the school systems are run to the benefit of the teachers’ unions.

Federal regulations are choking us. For example, I know a gentleman here in Georgia who runs a shop that only rebuilds cylinder heads for diesel engines. As we were talking, I asked him, “Don’t the owners take care of the equipment?”

His answer was: That’s not the problem. The problem is that the regulations for modern diesel engines make them almost unusable. The rebuild cycle has become much shorter in recent years as the regulations have become stricter.

You can turn to almost any area of personal life or business and find the same thing. The federal bureaucracy hires more and more people to create more and more regulations. It’s a hidden tax.

But back to good and evil. I think it’s evil when the government takes the stance that we need more and more regulation. It’s evil to let teachers and bureaucrats oversee our children – and I’m not talking about situations where there is a clear and present danger in the home – I’m talking about an environment where children are taught in school to hide discussions and decisions from their parents.

I could go on forever. The point is that America today is nothing like the America of my youth, and I would argue that about 90 percent of the changes have been for the worse.
