Jones joins O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home as preparation counselor – Muddy River News

QUINCY — Rev. Orville Jones is now a preparedness counselor at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home. He will work with area families to plan ahead to ensure their families are provided for in advance. Planning ahead helps avoid emotional, organizational and financial stress for families in the future.

Jones studied music and ROTC at Arsenal Technical High School, graduating with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kentucky State University with a concentration in music and received a doctorate in theology from Isaiah College of Ministry and Seminary.

Jones is pastor of First Baptist Church in Quincy and former moderator of the Wood River Baptist District Association, the oldest contiguous district in the country. He holds a private pilot’s license and is a member of the Quincy Aviation Commission and the Human Rights Commission.

The O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home has been serving area families for more than 100 years and is a sister company to the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri, the Lewis Brothers Funeral Home in Palmyra, Missouri, and the O’Donnell-Thurman Life Celebration Home in Monroe City, Missouri.
