Neville Longbottom has grown up and JK Rowling has something to say about it.
Actor Matthew Lewis is best known for his portrayal of the Gryffindor idiot Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films. The popular character was pampered by his grandmother and terrified of the Potions master Professor Snape.
But on the cover of this month’s Attitude Magazine, Lewis looks like a different person. Although his character was the oddest kid in his class, Lewis has grown into a muscular young man who isn’t afraid to take off his shirt.
Nevertheless, he told Attitude: “I never considered myself good-looking. Just average.”
No matter how average Lewis may look, the internet sees things differently. Social media is full of the photos and everyone is commenting on them – even Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
In response to the photos, Rowling admonished Lewis on Twitter:
Lewis responded with an apology, which Rowling accepted:
.@Mattdavelewis I will always support you in whatever you want to do, Matthew. Now put some clothes on.

To round off the online exchange, here is a tweet from Jason Isaacs, aka Lucius Malfoy:
Although Hogwarts is notoriously prone to electronic malfunctions, the wizarding community seems to be thriving on Twitter.
Here are a few more photos of what the actor formerly known as Neville Longbottom looks like today.
