JK Rowling once had to apologize to her fans for a particularly controversial Harry Potter She admitted that she made the unexpected plot twist for “personal reasons.”

The 59-year-old British author, who was recently named in a lawsuit filed by Olympic gold medalist Imane Khelif, is behind all seven books – and subsequent films – in the main series.

I’m sure all Potterheads know the three main characters: Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and – of course – Harry Potter.

The books were full of action, spells, and a lot of chaos at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but readers also got to enjoy a lot of romantic drama.

Over the years, the three main characters have had several love affairs, but the most surprising relationship was probably that between Hermione and Ron, as they were not suited to each other right away.

Well, in the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsSet 19 years later, readers are revealed that Harry married Ron’s younger sister Ginny Weasley and had three children together, while Ron and Hermione ended up together and had two children of their own.

Rowling explained the reason for the connection, as many die-hard fans of the book series had hoped that Harry and Hermione would move in together instead of Ron.

In 2014, the author apologized to readers who had so desperately wanted a connection between Harry and Hermione – and even admitted that Hermione might have been happier with the title character.

“I wrote the relationship between Hermione and Ron as a kind of wish fulfillment,” she said in an interview with Wonderland magazine, previewed in the Sunday Times.

She continued: “That’s actually how it was designed.

“For reasons that have very little to do with literature and much to do with sticking to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Rowling even apologized for the turn of events, adding: “I know I’m sorry, I can hear the anger and rage it may provoke in some fans, but if I’m completely honest, distance has given me some perspective. It was a decision I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.”

“Am I breaking people’s hearts if I say this? I hope not.”
