The brother of a “Harry Potter” star died during an investigation while “train surfing” with a “drunk” friend.

The inquest heard that Benjamin Haddon-Cave, 27, brother of Jessie Cave – who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter series – was with Patrick Bolster, 26, in east London when they were both fatally electrocuted, according to local reports.

Like his sister, Mr Cave worked as an actor and was expected to star in an upcoming film. He was also a music producer and was in his third year at university.

His friend of seven years, Mr Bolster, was a university student from Wales who had come to London that afternoon to attend a comedy show, according to The Sun.

Their bodies were reportedly found on the tracks of the overground line between London’s Hackney Wick and Stratford stations in the early hours of March 21.

Firefighters reportedly found the bodies about a mile apart.

The inquest on Friday said Bolster’s blood alcohol level was “due to extreme drunkenness,” The Sun reported.

Witnesses reported seeing a bright red and orange flash on the roof of the train and hearing an electrical crack, the court was told.

An autopsy revealed that the couple had died from electric shock and traumatic brain injury.

“This trauma was probably caused by the fall from the train. It is less likely that electrocution was the primary cause of death,” coroner Mary Hassell was quoted as saying.

Family “completely devastated” by actor’s death

In a statement published by the Evening Standard, Mr Haddon-Cave’s family said: “He was our beloved son and brother and we are absolutely devastated. He was an incredibly kind and talented music producer, writer and actor.”

“He was the middle of five sons and we are all deeply heartbroken. His long-time girlfriend is equally distraught.”

At the time of the deaths, transportation police determined that the two had been surfing on a train when they crashed and died.

“The initial evidence we have been able to gather suggests that both men were on the roof of a moving freight train when they came into contact with the overhead power lines,” Detective Sergeant David Taylor was quoted as saying in March.

The investigation is ongoing.
