Jefferson County residents eligible for FEMA assistance after Hurricane Debby

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Homeowners and renters in Jefferson County who suffered uninsured damage or loss from Hurricane Debby can now apply for FEMA disaster assistance, according to FEMA.

The assistance may be able to help with “serious needs, displacement, temporary housing, basic home repair costs, loss of personal property, or other needs caused by the disaster,” FEMA’s press release said.

The application deadline is October 9th.

According to FEMA, those in need of assistance must provide:

  • A current telephone number
  • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you currently live
  • Social Security Number
  • List of damages and losses
  • Bank details if you choose direct deposit
  • If insured, the insurance number or the name of the representative and/or company

Homeowners and renters in Alachua County are now also eligible for assistance from FEMA.

Previously, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Sarasota, Suwannee and Taylor counties were eligible for home assistance.

To apply for assistance, call 800-621-3362, visit DisasterAssistance.gov or use the FEMA app.
