Jackson on the Lombardi Award watch list

HOUSTON – Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson was named to the 2024 Lombardi Award Watch List.

Established in 1970 in memory of legendary coach Vince Lombardi, the Lombardi Award™ recognizes outstanding linemen who best embody the values of leadership, courage, performance and discipline on and off the field. Additionally, the watch list includes players who consistently demonstrate strength, agility and football skill at their respective positions.

This is Jackson’s third national award watchlist nomination this season, having previously appeared on the Chuck Bednarik Award watchlist and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watchlist.

Jackson, who enters the 2024 season as a Walter Camp Football Foundation Preseason All-American and Preseason All-SEC selection, proved to be one of the nation’s most dominant pass rushers last season, recording 44 total tackles, including 13.5 tackles for loss, with 6.5 sacks and one pass defense during his junior season for the Razorbacks.

A native of Texarkana, Texas, Jackson became the first Arkansas defensive lineman since Jake Bequette in 2011 to be named First-Team All-SEC after leading the Razorbacks in tackles for loss (13.5) and sacks (6.5). Jackson had a standout performance at Alabama last season, setting career highs in tackles (11), tackles for loss (3.5) and sacks (3.5), earning him SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week honors. Jackson’s 3.5 sacks were the most by an SEC player in a single game last season and ranked fifth nationally for a single game.

Jackson is one of 90 of the country’s best linemen and linebackers on the watch list. Based on past performance and potential for the upcoming season, this list consists of a select group of talented athletes representing the best from all FBS conferences and independent teams.

Arkansas opens the season on August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock against UAPB on ESPNU. Season tickets are on sale now for just $45 per game. To view available seating online, click here or call the Razorback Ticket Center at 479.575.5151.
