Pakistan’s defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test match in Rawalpindi on Sunday has drawn strong reactions from former players. Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 10 wickets to achieve their first victory over their opponents in the longest format of the game. Analysing the match, former Pakistan wicketkeeper and batter Kamran Akmal has criticised the players and management for failing to correct their past mistakes. In a brutal tirade, Akmal accused the players and officials of humiliating Pakistan globally in world cricket over the last five years.

You didn’t reach 50 kiya after Rizwan as the scoreboard ended the innings. Ye itni buri haar hai ki bhooli nahi jaegi. Aap kisi ka bura sochoge to aapke saath bhi bura hi hoga. Aapne pichle 5 saalon se kuch nahi seekha. Aap Zimbabwe se hair gaye. Pichle saal aap Asia Cup se baahar ho gaye th. Abhi aap itna zaleel hue hain world cup me, Pakistan cricket ka mazaak ban chuka hai global. (Had Rizwan not scored 50 and topped the scoreboard, you would have lost by a narrow margin. You have not learnt anything in the last five years. You lost to Zimbabwe. You were knocked out of the Asia Cup last year. You were humiliated in the T20 World Cup. You have made a complete mockery of Pakistani cricket),” Akmal said on his YouTube channel.

Akmal congratulated the Bangladesh players who showed great spirit to win from the jaws of defeat. On the contrary, he questioned the attitude of the Pakistani players who were laughing in the dressing room despite losing control of the match.

“It was a difficult time for Bangladesh but their batters were scoring runs. They had to save the Test and not only did they do that but they won the game. They basically exposed Pakistan cricket. And our players were batting like club cricketers. Sorry but even club cricketers don’t play like that. The approach was poor. The players are making fun of it in the dressing room, there is no seriousness because they know nobody will ask anything. It seems like they are playing for fun,” he added.
