“It was a really great camp…”

JACKSONVILLE – The end is near and the work was good.

This gives Trevor Lawrence a good and optimistic feeling as the 2024 training camp at the Miller Electric Center draws to a close after making necessary and solid progress over the past month.

“It was a really good camp,” he said.

Lawrence, the Jaguars’ starting quarterback since 2021, spoke to the media on Wednesday shortly after the last open practice of the 2024 preseason. He talked about liking the depth of the roster as he enters his fourth NFL season and liking the feel of the offense as the team prepares to play the Atlanta Falcons in their final preseason game on Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

“We have developed this chemistry on offense more and more every day,” he said.

Lawrence’s statement applies not only to talent, but also to an offensive line that includes new center Mitch Morse – a 10-year veteran who signed with the Jaguars as a free agent from the Buffalo Bills in March. Lawrence said he and Morse have worked well together throughout training camp.

“The guys up front have a great rapport,” Lawrence said. “They play really well together and communicate. I think you can’t get enough of those looks and that’s why camp is so great because you get to work out a lot of things that you wouldn’t get to see otherwise.”

The Jaguars, who finished 9-8 for the second consecutive year in 2023 and missed the playoffs by one game, made extensive personnel moves in the offseason. In addition to signing Morse as a free agent, they also signed free-agent veterans such as defensive tackle Arik Armstead, wide receiver Gabe Davis, cornerback Donald Darby, wide receiver/returner Devin Duvernay, edge defender Trevis Gipson and safety Darnell Savage.
