Vice President Kamala Harris has been in the middle of a three-month presidential campaign since her official nomination – and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb knows how to run such a shortened campaign for an important office.

In 2016, then-Governor Mike Pence became Donald Trump’s running mate, vacating his seat as the Republican nominee for governor.

The Indiana Republican Party State Committee placed then-Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb on the ballot to replace Pence, just 106 days before polls closed on Election Day.

When President Joe Biden dropped out of the race last month and Harris took the reins, there were only 107 days until Election Day.

Holcomb said the Harris campaign must prepare to go without sleep.

“So it was really a 106-day — 100-day campaign for them — of high pressure to build the aircraft in flight condition and then make sure it lands with no leftover fuel,” Holcomb said.

Holcomb said Harris must also present her supporters with a clear plan for the country.
