There’s no doubt that Detroit Lions fans will always hold former quarterback Matthew Stafford in their hearts. Although Matthew Stafford is with his new team, the Los Angeles Rams, the former Lions quarterback still holds a special place in Detroit’s hearts. He and his wife, Kelly, left a certain legacy here when he left after 12 seasons with the Lions. The duo donated a significant amount to build a center called “The Kelly and Matthew Stafford & Friends Education Center,” part of a major expansion that became part of Mitch Albom’s nonprofit organization, SAY Detroit. They even returned to Detroit for the groundbreaking.

When Stafford went to the West Coast, he not only had to say Farewell to his Lions team and the city of Detroit, but he and his wife Kelly also said goodbye to their magnificent home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

The incredible lakefront home on Long Pointe Drive has been listed for $6.5 million. Located just outside of Detroit, the home is 12,295 square feet, has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, and sits on a 1.27-acre pointed peninsula that extends into the all-sports Upper Long Lake. According to Zillow, the home sold for $6 million in August 2021.

The home has just about every little extra you’d expect from a professional athlete. The former Stafford home includes an indoor half-basketball court with the flooring the Detroit Pistons played on at the Pontiac Silverdome, five fireplaces, a sauna, a wine cellar and a glass elevator connecting to all three floors.

Kelly Stafford frequently posted pictures on social media of her family enjoying their time at the lake, hosting events with friends and family, and taking advantage of all the home’s amenities, including the highlight, the state’s largest infinity pool.

The Staffords bought a 15,000-square-foot home in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, in the guard-gated celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills. Price? $19.6 million. Neighbors include Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, Lil Wayne, NBA star DeMar DeRozan and Kylie Jenner, who lives right across the street.

Check out what it looked like when Matthew and the family called it home below, and catch all the action between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, January 14th at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
