Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis set new world records at a Diamond League event in Chorzow, Poland on Sunday, and Canadian Marco Arop ran a meeting record.
Ingebrigtsen won the men’s 3,000-meter race in a world record time of seven minutes and 17.55 seconds.
The time beats the previous record of 7:20.67 set by Kenyan Daniel Komen in 1996.
Ingebrigtsen’s previous personal best time for this distance was 7:23.63.

Duplantis, who had already won the men’s pole vault competition at the Silesia Stadium with a height of six metres, set a new world record of 6.26 metres.
The 24-year-old from Louisiana, who competes for his mother’s home country of Sweden, was able to improve his world record by another centimeter.
This is the third time he has set a world record this year. He recently achieved this at the Olympic Games in Paris, when he won the gold medal with 6.25 meters.

Duplantis, commonly known as “Mondo,” has now broken the world record ten times in his career – each time by one centimeter.
Canadian sets competition record in men’s 800-meter race
Arop of Edmonton stormed to the top in the men’s 800-meter race, winning the race comfortably with a meet-record time of 1:41.86.
The 25-year-old reigning world champion defeated reigning Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya, who took second place with a time of 1:43.23.

The two runners had just battled it out on Thursday in an 800-meter race as part of the Diamond League in Lausanne. Wanyonyi won the unofficial Diamond League event in Switzerland with a world best and personal best of 1:41.11.
