Indiana High School Girls Soccer Watch List Top 50 Lafayette

LAFAYETTE – High school girls soccer in the Lafayette area is heating up after the regular season began this week.

A new generation of players is emerging, including a new class of younger players ready to showcase their skills and older players ready to lead their teams to long victories in the IHSAA sectional and state playoffs.

But who are the best players in the area and which schools do they attend?

Here is a complete list of athletes who made the top 50 watch list, as well as 11 who were selected to the Journal & Courier Preseason All-Area team.

Let’s meet the 50 best female soccer players in the Lafayette area:

Avery Hardebeck, Benton Central

Hardebeck proved to be one of the area’s best scorers and most adept passers, scoring 14 goals and adding 10 assists in 2023. Hardebeck returns for her senior year and was named to the All-Hoosier Conference first team.

Ruth Moser, Harrison

Moser has excellent footwork and is capable of scoring goals from 10+ yards out and creating opportunities for her teammates with her passing and spatial awareness. Moser, now a senior, scored 14 goals and had 16 assists, being the team’s top player and was named to the third team All-State selection, as well as the first team All-District selection, first team All-North Central Conference selection and Academic All-State selection.

Jessica Hale, Southmont

Hale scored 24 goals, had two assists and was named to the All-Sagamore Conference first team. Hale, now a senior, was named to the Crawfordsville. Magazine review Player of the Year 2023.

Dylan Kastens, West Lafayette

Kastens has made a name for herself as a two-sport athlete for the Red Devils. Whether on the field or off the court, Kastens smothers teams with her pressure. The returning senior defender scored two goals with three assists and was named All-Hoosier Conference and Academic All-State. Kastens returns for her senior year after helping West Lafayette to 12 shutouts in 2023.

Ryan Clawson, Harrison

The veteran goaltender helped the Raiders to seven shutouts and split time with Katie Choate, who graduated in 2023. Clawson made 60 saves last season.

Abigail Sprunger, Faith Christian

The junior defender brought heavy pressure to the Eagles in 2023. Sprunger led Faith Christian to 11 shutouts and a sectional championship win over Central Catholic in 2023.

Chauncey Keller, Benton Central

The returning senior for the Bison scored 11 goals in 2023. Keller received honorable mention in the Journal & Courier All-Area.

Malavika Sujith, West Lafayette

Sujith gave West Lafayette an offensive boost in 2023 and will be heavily responsible for scoring goals in 2024. Sujith scored 11 goals and dished out 11 assists her junior year, was named All-Hoosier Conference and was named an Academic All-State Honoree.

Josey Hall, Harrison

A defender who handles the ball well and uses her touch to create runs for scoring opportunities, Hall dished out five assists and scored a goal in her sophomore year for the Raiders, who are looking to defend their Class 3A Sectional Championship.

Johanna Haste, Faith Christian

Haste scored 26 goals and developed into one of her team’s offensive leaders. The Eagles signed midfielder Hannah Bolton, who is recovering from a knee injury, in 2023. Haste earned honorable mention in the 2023 Journal & Courier All-Area.

Addie Wallar, Central Catholic

Wallar was another undergraduate who shined in her freshman year, helping the Knights reach the Class 1A Sectional Championship in 2023. Wallar scored 15 goals and added six assists for Central Catholic. Wallar earned Journal & Courier All-Area honorable mention last season.

  • Emily Welborn, Faith Christian, midfielder, freshman.
  • Riley Gardner, Crawfordsville, midfielder, senior, 11 goals and 11 assists in 2023.
  • Gabrielle Rush, Faith Christian, midfielder, senior, two goals and two assists in 2023.

  • Mia Maxwell, Harrison, midfielder, junior, two goals in 2023.
  • Cypress Collaco, Lafayette Jeff, midfielder, senior, three goals in 2023.
  • Haley Wagner, McCutcheon, defenseman, senior.
  • Aleah Szymanski, Harrison, midfielder, sophomore, five goals and 11 assists in 2023.

  • Bree Johnson, West Lafayette, goalkeeper, senior, three saves in 2023.
